MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC2 Update Problems
While the majority of our users do not have problems with the update process of MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC2, there are some reports about issues.
We are currently processing the reports and trying to find solutions.
I will update the list in this news with the information we collect during the next days.
We already have begun to fix the issues for RC3, which is scheduled to be released 4 weeks after the RC2 release.
If you have not installed 1.1.0 RC2 yet, then we recommend to use the "fresh install" option rather then the "update".
[Problem] TV Server Installer crashes
- [Reason] We are currently not sure what causes this problem.
- [Fix] Uninstall the TV-Server manually and run the 1.1.0 RC2 setup again.
[Problem] 1.1.0 RC2 installer identifies present RC1 as RC2
- [Reason] This is just a typo in the 1.1.0 RC2 installer.
- [Fix] The update is not blocked by this typo. 1.1.0 RC2 can be installed normally.
[Problem] TV not working after update
- [Reason 1] In some cases, the Deploy Tool won't start the TV Server Configuration application. This is essential because your present database needs an upgrade.
- [Fix 1] After updating your installation, make sure that you run the TV Server Configuration application.
Then restart your PC!
- [Reason 2] You have "For The Record" plugin installed.
- [Fix 2] Please read this thread in the "For The Record" support forum.
[Problem] TV Server Configuration crashes
- [Reason] This is caused by 3rd party plugins like "For The Record" and IRSS (specifically the TV3 Blaster Plugin) because they reference an old version (1.5.0.29053) of the gentle file.
- [Fix] Remove/uninstall all 3rd party TV Server plugins until their developers release a updated version.
NOTE: When uninstalling TV Server, use the Standard Uninstall. This will preserve all your TV Settings, database, etc. Third party TV Server plugins will no longer be installed/configured, which is probably a good thing until the issue with the references to the gentle file is resolved.
